Chedly Ayari or Chédli Ayari born August 21, 1933 in Tunis, is an economist, politician and Tunisian diplomat. He served as Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia since 2012. He studied economics in Paris, more precisely at the Sorbonne, where he became a PhD in economics, before you consider private law. Chedly Ayari was hired after his university years as a professor of economics and law at the University of Tunis. At the end of his academic career, he is Professor Emeritus, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Economics and Management of Tunis Science and associate professor at the University of Aix-Marseille and the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis. During his career, he received the title of Doctor Honoris Causa from the University of Aix-Marseille and the Honorary President of the International Sociological Association in French. Ayari is interested as a researcher in international financial and monetary relations, macroeconomic policy as well as human development. He joined several international research units such as the Economic Research Forum in Cairo, he is also vice-chairman of the National Advisory Council for Scientific Research and Technology (Tunisia). He is the author of numerous books and articles on economic, financial, monetary, social and political, as well as theoretical perspectives and are published in Arabic, French, English and German in Tunisia, Europe, Africa Saharan Africa and in the Arab world. In the 1960s, several articles published in the journal of the Centre for Studies and Economic and Social Research. Skills Chedly Ayari encourage the President of the Republic of Tunisia, Habib Bourguiba, to integrate the government where he has several responsibilities: Planning Minister (1969-1970, 1974-1975); Minister of Youth and Sports (1970); Minister of Education (1970-1971); Minister of Economy (1972-1974). January 22, 2010, he was appointed by decree as a member of the House of Councillors. He also held diplomatic responsibilities, such as economic adviser to the Tunisian delegation to the United Nations (UN) in New York and Ambassador of the European Commission and the kingdoms of Belgium and Luxembourg. Ayari chairs the Committee for Industrial Development to the United Nations and the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa6. He is also Executive Director of the World Bank Group and a member of the Advisory Board of the African Development Bank. Appointed Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia, replacing Mustapha Kamel Nabli sacked a few weeks earlier, his candidacy is confirmed by the Constituent Assembly July 24, 2012, by 97 votes against 89, with four abstentions, his candidacy is criticized because of its age and its relationship with the deposed regime of Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali overthrown by the 2011 revolution.
