Architect Mohammed Namadi Sambo was born in Zaria, Kaduna State on 2nd August, 1954. In 1967 he attended Government Secondary School, Zaria (now Alhuda-Huda College) where he obtained his West African School Certificate (WASC) in 1971. From 1972 to 1973 he attended the School of Basic Studies at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Between 1973 and 1976 he studied architecture at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture (B.Sc,) (Hons) in 1976 and a Masters Degree in Architecture (M.sc) in 1978. He served with the Oyo State Ministry of Works and Housing for his National Youth Service between 1978 and 1979.
With the creation of Bauchi State in 1976, he joined the first set of architects that were involved in the design of various offices and staff housing schemes to accommodate the inflow of government officials. During this period, he was in charge of upgrading the Yankari Games Reserve Holiday Resort. He was also responsible for the Bauchi State Urban Development Board for development, control and the production of the Master Plan of Bauchi town and other cities in Bauchi State.
With his experience in Bauchi state and having demonstrated his architectural competence in many areas, Arc. Namadi Sambo was appointed the Commissioner of Agriculture by the Kaduna State Government in February 1986 where he executed the World Bank assisted Kaduna Agricultural
Development Project (KADP). The project helped to transform the State into a major food basket of the nation. He also developed the Strategic Grain Reserve projects and Forestry Development which helped to arrest the problem of desertification in the State.
In 1988 he was reassigned to the Kaduna State Ministry of Works, Transport and Housing. In his commitment for service he completed the Kaduna Metropolitan expanded Water Supply Scheme and initiated the implementation of the World Bank assisted First Multi-State Water Supply Project for the benefit of the people. Before the expiration of his tenure, he initiated the Kaduna State 99 Towns Electricity Project which connected over 70 towns to the national grid.
As a qualified and registered architect, he left the services of the Bauchi State Government in 1981 and was appointed the Managing Director of Fulani Construction Company at Gombe. In that capacity, he was involved in the construction of DadinKowa Secondary School, now a Polytechnic; Tula Secondary School; College of Education, Gombe and various other housing projects for government, private organizations and individuals.
He joined the services of Ella Waziri Associates as a senior architect late in 1982. During this period, he was involved in design, construction and supervision of several projects which include:- the present Katsina Polytechnic; Multi-Purpose office accommodation for FCDA, Medical College at Maiduguri University and the Medical Hostel.
In 1985, Arc. Namadi Sambo established an architectural firm called Environmental Design Consortium, which later metamorphosed into Coplan Associates. Up to 1986, when he was appointed the Honourable Commissioner of Agriculture by the Kaduna State Government, he was involved in the design and project management of several projects, which include: Housing
complex for the special vehicle plant for the Federal Ministry of Defence at Bauchi; Industrial Training Fund, Zonal offices and various housing and office buildings.
Arc. Namadi Sambo engaged in private practice after leaving the service of the Kaduna State Government in 1990. He consulted for the World Bank as well as Federal and State Governments.

• The National Stadium Complex, Abuja
• The Games Village, Abuja
• University for Oil and Gas, Warri
• Development of the National Institute of Technology, Bonny, Rivers State
• Federal Polytechnic for Oil and Gas Ekowe, Bayelsa State, among others
Arc. Namadi Sambo was elected the Executive Governor of Kaduna State and was sworn-in on the 29th May 2007. He had an 11-Point Agenda aimed at addressing the developmental and social needs of the people of Kaduna State. He also introduced Operation Yaki which was aimed at addressing the security problem of the State. Arc Mohammad Namadi Sambo became the vice president of the federal republic of Nigeria with The death President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua on May 5, 2010. He was sworn-in on May 6, 2010, as the Vice President of Nigeria.
Arc Mohammad Namadi Sambo contested the April 16, 2011 presidential election on the platform of PDP as the running mate of President Goodluck Jonathan which they won with a gallant victory.
